How to Feng Shui Your Entire House: A Room-by-Room Walkthrough That Takes 30 Minutes
By Master Feng Hua Wang · June 21, 2026 · 10 min read
You don't need to be an expert. You don't need a compass. You need to walk through your home with fresh eyes and this guide.
We'll go room by room, in order of importance. Fix the first room before moving to the next. The order matters — the front door affects every other room. Fix it first.
The Order of Operations (Do Not Skip This)
- 1. Front Door & Entryway — The mouth of qi. Everything enters here. Fix this first.
- 2. Kitchen — Wealth generator. The stove is your financial engine.
- 3. Bedroom — Where you spend 1/3 of your life. Sleep and relationship HQ.
- 4. Bathroom — Wealth drain. Seal the leaks.
- 5. Living Room — Social and family gathering energy.
- 6. Home Office — Career command center.
Room 1: Front Door & Entryway (5 minutes)
The Audit:
- Stand outside your front door. What do you see? Is the door clean? Is the number visible? Is the light working?
- Open the door. Does it swing freely, or does it hit something? The first three feet inside your home must be clear.
- Is there a mirror directly facing the door? Move it to a side wall.
- Is there a staircase directly in front of the door? Qi rushes up or down — place a console table, lamp, or plant between door and stairs.
- Is the entryway bright? If not, add a lamp. Keep it on during daylight hours.
- Does the door open to see a bathroom, kitchen stove, or back door? Block the sightline with a screen, plant, or curtain.
Room 2: Kitchen (5 minutes)
The Audit:
- Is the stove directly opposite the sink or refrigerator? Fire vs. water. Place a wooden cutting board between them.
- Are all burners working? A broken burner = a broken income stream.
- Are knives visible on the counter? Store them in a drawer or block with blades down.
- Is the trash can hidden? If you can see it from the stove, move it into a cabinet.
- What direction is your kitchen in? Northwest kitchen = fire burning Heaven's Gate. Add earth elements (yellow, ceramic) to mediate.
- Is the kitchen door kept closed? If visible from the front door, this is essential.
Room 3: Bedroom (5 minutes)
The Audit:
- Headboard against solid wall? Not a window. Not a bathroom wall.
- Can you see the door from the bed without being directly in line with it?
- Are there mirrors facing the bed? TV counts as a black mirror. Cover or remove.
- Two nightstands, equal size, one on each side?
- What's under the bed? If anything — remove it. Qi must circulate around you while you sleep.
- Are there water images? Remove. Are there images of single figures? Replace with pairs.
- Is there a work desk in the bedroom? If unavoidable, cover it at night and never face the bed.
Room 4: Bathroom (3 minutes)
The Audit:
- Toilet lid closed? Always. This alone stops most wealth drain.
- Bathroom door kept closed? Always. Install a self-closing hinge if needed.
- Does the mirror reflect the toilet? Keep the lid closed to break the reflection.
- Is there a living plant? Boston fern or pothos — absorbs drain energy.
- Is the bathroom in the Southeast (wealth), Southwest (love), or center of the house? See the Bathroom Fixes guide for emergency protocols.
Room 5: Living Room (5 minutes)
The Audit:
- Sofa against a solid wall? Back should not face the entrance.
- Seating faces each other or the entrance — not the TV. TV should be off to the side.
- Coffee table lower than sofa seats? If higher, replace.
- All seating front legs on the rug? A too-small rug disconnects the gathering.
- Wealth corner (diagonally opposite the entrance): is there a healthy plant and a lamp?
Room 6: Home Office (5 minutes)
The Audit:
- Desk in command position? Back to solid wall, can see door at diagonal.
- Not facing a wall directly? Pull desk back 3-4 feet for open space in front.
- Not facing a window directly? Your focus leaks out the window.
- Garbage can under or beside the desk? Move it across the room.
- Piles of paper? Process or file. Paper stacks = stagnant decision energy.
- Healthy plant on the desk? Jade plant or lucky bamboo in the far left corner.
The 30-Minute Quick Fix Protocol
If you do nothing else, do these three things in 30 minutes:
- Minute 1-10: Clear the front door. Wash it. Oil the hinges. Remove everything behind it. Add light.
- Minute 11-20: Fix the bed. Headboard against wall. Two nightstands. Cover mirrors. Clear under the bed.
- Minute 21-30: Remove three dead/broken/unwanted things. Walk every room. Find dead plants, broken items, gifts you keep out of guilt. Remove them all.
