"Before I sign any major contract, I check three things: the numbers, the timing, and the energy. Most people forget the third one — and that's where they get into trouble."
— A conversation with Master Feng Hua Wang

There's a reason why wealthy families have consulted feng shui masters for generations. It's not superstition. It's pattern recognition across thousands of years — observing what happens when energy flows in certain directions, at certain times, in certain spaces.

Today, I'm going to share 9 signs that successful people watch — not because they're superstitious, but because they work. Every single one of these has a measurable effect on how opportunities, money, and luck move in and out of your life.

Sign #1: The Cluttered Entryway

Your front entrance is called the Mouth of Qi — the mouth through which wealth enters your home. If it's blocked by shoes, boxes, old umbrellas, or debris, you're quite literally choking your prosperity.

The wealthy person's test: Stand at your front door. Can you see the full door swing open without anything touching it? If not, you have a qi blockage.

Fix it tonight: Remove everything from your entryway. Sweep it. Add a bright light if possible. Place a small potted plant (not cactus) on the left side as you enter. Cost: under $20 and 20 minutes.

Sign #2: The Leaning or Broken Mirror

A leaning mirror is a destabilized reflection of your life. In feng shui, mirrors must be firmly mounted. Leaning mirrors represent a life in flux — finances that won't stabilize, decisions that keep shifting.

Broken mirrors are even more serious: they fragment your opportunities, scattering good fortune into pieces.

Fix it: Mount any leaning mirror firmly to the wall. If the mirror is cracked, replace it immediately. Don't keep a cracked mirror anywhere in the home.

Sign #3: The Blocked Career Corner (East Wall)

In the Ba-Gua map, the east wall of your home governs career and life path. If this wall is covered in clutter, has a broken light, or faces a wall with no windows, your career energy is suppressed.

Successful people often have a clear, well-lit workspace facing their best direction. The environment literally signals to your subconscious: opportunities are welcome here.

Sign #4: The Kitchen Stove Facing the Door

The stove represents your financial abundance. When the stove faces the front door directly, the wealth energy is pulled out the door as fast as it enters — like water pouring through a漏斗.

This is one of the most financially damaging layout mistakes I see in modern apartments, and most people have no idea.

The fix: If possible, reposition the stove. If you can't, place a tall plant or a feng shui Vase of Heaven between the stove and door to slow the energy and hold it in the home.

Sign #5: Sleeping Under a Beam

A ceiling beam directly above your bed is called Yi Zi Gan — "the pressure of the executioner's block." It creates unconscious stress, disrupts deep sleep, and is associated with chronic fatigue, headaches, and financial anxiety.

You don't have to be wealthy to notice this: people sleeping under beams often feel inexplicably tired, worried about money, or stuck in their careers.

The fix: Move your bed. If you can't, install a canopy (a beautiful solution) or hang a wooden ornament from the beam to diffuse its energy downward instead of pressing down.

Sign #6: The Dried-Out Water Feature

Wealth feng shui often uses water features — fountains, aquariums, small ponds — to activate wealth energy. But here's what most people get wrong: a dried-out or stagnant water feature is worse than having none at all.

Stagnant water attracts negative energy. A broken fountain represents financial paralysis.

Rule: If you have a water feature, it must be clean, flowing, and working. If it's been broken for more than a week, either fix it or remove it entirely.

Sign #7: The Dark Corner in the Wealth Sector

The southeast corner of your home (or desk/bedroom) is the wealth zone. In feng shui, light = energy = opportunity.

If your southeast corner is dark — no window, no lamp, no natural light — your wealth energy is sleeping. No matter how hard you work, this area is dragging your financial luck down.

Fix it: Add a warm lamp (not fluorescent) to your southeast corner. Keep it on from sunset to midnight. The light activates the wealth energy while you sleep.

Sign #8: The Negative Door Number

Your house or apartment number has energetic properties in Chinese numerology. Numbers like 4 (death), 5 (chaos), and 9 (overload) in certain positions can create persistent difficulties — especially in finances and relationships.

The wealthiest addresses I've seen often have 1, 6, or 8 in their number. This isn't magic — it's vibrational frequency matching the energy you're trying to attract.

What to do: If your door number has challenging energy, add a feng shui number enhancer plate or place 8 coins in a red string bag near your door to transmute the number's negative influence.

Sign #9: The Empty Wallet

This one sounds trivial, but it's deeply significant in feng shui: an empty wallet represents an empty bank account.

I advise every client to keep their wallet clean, organized, and with at least one item of genuine personal meaning in it — a photograph of someone they love, a small blessing note, a meaningful gift. Your wallet is your daily wealth container. Treating it with respect signals to the universe that you are a worthy steward of money.

Putting It All Together: The Wealth Audit

These 9 signs aren't random — they're a system. When energy flows correctly through your home's entry, through your wealth zones, through your workspace, and into your rest space, money has an easier path to finding you.

Most people focus all their energy on working harder. But in feng shui philosophy, working smarter includes aligning your environment with your goals.

Start tonight: Walk through your home with a notepad. Check each of these 9 signs. Fix what you can fix this week. The ones that take more time — furniture repositioning, layout changes — schedule for the next 30 days.

Your environment is a conversation you're having with your own fortune every single day. Make sure you're sending the right message.
